Parents in a family are the governing system for the Family Machine. Their role is to monitor and adjust the family's functioning. Good discipline practices are the tools parents use to make those adjustments and keep the family on track. Good discipline is necessary for smooth operation and maneuvering within the larger Great Life Machine that is the community and the world beyond. Providing good discipline can, however, be difficult. As a governing system, parents often need help. The following articles are the necessary tools for managing slight adjustments, changing out parts, or performing a complete discipline overhaul. These articles can help diagnose a problem in discipline and they detail very specific practices for keeping kids in line. Leaks in Discipline discusses all the aspects of consistency that are necessary to create clear leadership from parents. Making sure that kids really understand their parents' expectations is the focus of The Satisfaction Meter. It's So Hard to Be Bad aims at full comprehension of the motivation behind bad behavior. General discipline practices are outlined in Good Discipline for Acting Out Kids. Last, but not least, a Sample Reward System is presented that can be adjusted to fit the needs of any family or any situation.
